Isola Sveisemembran

For sealing car park floors, bridges, tunnels and culverts, etc.

Areas of application

Isola Sveisemembran is used for waterproofing structures that require a firm connection between the membrane and substrate over the entire surface. Relevant structures include bridges, car park floors, concrete sheds, tunnels and culverts.
Once Isola Sveisemembran has been correctly laid on a primed concrete floor, road tarmac can be laid directly on the membrane by machine.

Application

Isola Sveisemembran is designed for welding onto concrete substrate. The requirements relating to its adhesion strength to the substrate are dependent on the structure and the area of application. The strength of the joints is dependent on the condition of the substrate and the manner in which it has been pre-treated. In order to obtain strong, permanent bonding with concrete surfaces a separate primer should be applied, and if necessary it should be pre-treated prior to priming.
The properties of Isola Primer have been adapted to suit Isola Sveisemembran in order to obtain optimal adhesion.
If it has been laid correctly Isola Sveisemembran is able to withstand standing water under high pressure.

Properties, material construction

This product has a strong core consisting of polyester fibre impregnated and coated with SBS elastomer bitumen (a type of synthetic rubber).
It has a thickness of 4.7 mm.
The underside and 10 cm of one of the side edges have been coated with welding film. The upper side has also been beaded with special sand.
In an undamaged state its extensibility is in excess of 50%.
Its tensile strength is more than 700N pr. 5 cm strip.

Isola Primer

Isola Primer is designed for application to concrete floors and providing strong, permanent bonding to Isola Sveisemembran. Isola Primer consists of distilled bitumen, solvents and special adhesives.
Good adhesion is particularly important in order to avoid the formation of blisters as a result of vapour pressure and for the transfer of braking power.

Isola Sveisemembran has been granted Technical Approval by the Norwegian Building Research Institute (No. 2452).
